 The Fear Incinerator
 Evocative - Menier Gallery - 2014

'Courage' is an interactive exhibit based around a fully-functioning portable incinerator and gallery visitors will be invited to write down their deepest fears and then 'release them' into the incinerator.

I was inspired to create this piece of work based on the famous quote: 
 “Courage faces fear and thereby masters it.” – MLK Jr. 

The incinerator will be sealed so that once inserted, people's fears can never escape. My heartfelt hope is that by interacting with the piece people can truly summon the courage they need to banish their fears and live a fuller, happier life.

At the end of the show, the 'fear incinerator' will be activated and all the fears it contained will be turned into ash and disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way.
